Lin Heung Lau, or Fragrant Lotus Tea House

My cousin is in town with his wife and kids on vacation, so we went to dim sum together at Lin Heung Tea House, a very old dim sum joint (from 1928!) located on Wellington St.  Everything is very traditional, down to the dirt and grease of the tables and floors, the whirring ceiling fans, the empty birdcages that hang from the ceiling, and the stand and spittoons for tea:

Here, the carts are rolled out with a wide variety of dishes, but you approach the hawker with your paper slip:
Jockeying for the fresh dim sum makes the food taste better

Turnip cake, custard buns with duck egg, steamed vegetable dumplings, shumai with quail egg, liver... among others
