Escapades with the Kids

This half month of June has marked an exciting bunch of tears, screams, laughter and happiness in our household.  The kids are all doing so well and it's hard not to feel immense love and blessing when hanging around with them in the apartment.  We've been so lucky to have my parents here with us, not least because of the huge trove of pictures and videos that they have helped me capture.

Here are some pictures of the kids hanging around the apartment and outside.  The boys have started to try solid foods this month.  So far they have tried banana, apple, peas, carrots and sweet potato.  They love food and the noise level is never higher than when they see or know that they are about to eat.

Al and Teo are catching up fast to their sister - they each weigh about 9 pounds less than her now.  I joked that for the past 2 years, most of the food that we have fed Lola must have gone to her brain, because how can her brothers be nearly her size already?!  With Lola I was constantly buying clothes and waiting for her to fit in them; with Al and Teo, I am constantly buying clothes and giving them away brand new because they never even got a chance to try them.

Al has a bit of torticollis, the same condition that Lola had when she was a baby - or tilting the neck to one side due to tightness in the neck muscles.  In Lola, it led to a turning out of her foot also.  The benefit of having been through this before means that we were able to spot the issue very early on, and have been doing exercises with him for a while now.  However, I was concerned because he would always scream while doing the exercises, and then it seemed like the issue wasn't improving.  Last week I took him to the same physical therapist to see what we could do, and she gave us some more stretches to try.

Her assessment of Al, after barely 5 minutes of reviewing him, was that he was "a classic middle child" (apparently it doesn't matter that he is the middle child by a mere two minutes) and clamors for attention.  She assured me that he was in no pain, but rather just wanted to make his discomfort known and also to ensure that no one forgot him.  I was pretty surprised and delighted by how quickly she saw through Al's shenanigans and in her gentle but no nonsense way totally called him on it.  I guess that's the job of a good physical therapist!

Now that Hong Kong has relaxed its social protocols a lot, I have been able to invite some friends over to meet the boys, finally.  It has been so nice.  We are also slowly meeting and getting to know people on our street and the boys are apparently little celebrities because everyone knows "the twins."
