Playtime at Maggie and Rose and Central Waterfront

Last week all of Lola's playgroups were closed for Easter, so we had to get creative with where we brought Lola to play.  She went to Maggie and Rose, a private children's club, in Causeway Bay, and then we took her to the Central waterfront the next day.  Maggie and Rose has a sweet little children's play area that you enter through a red telephone booth and red curtain.  Here is Lola in the booth, trying to make a phone call.
Inside the play area, Lola only had eyes for the slide, although this was a very big slide and too intimidating for her to actually slide down.

Lola had some tasty fresh squeezed orange juice which she sipped through a paper straw.  She had no idea how to sip out of the paper straw without completely chewing it up.  Three mangled and pulpy straws later and I had to agree with her - paper straws are the worst!

Lola was there with our neighbors, and the two little girls had a great time running around the club's spacious interior.

The next day, we went to the Central Waterfront ostensibly to participate in the My Little Pony Carnival, but we barely managed to enter the fair grounds before Lola made it very clear that she wanted nothing to do with the little tents and age-appropriate toys.
This is where we should have been...
No, she was much more interested in the gondola.  We went on it twice (because once wasn't enough!) and also one ride on the merry-go-round.

It was a beautiful (though very, very hot) day, and we could see pretty far.  Lola was endlessly entertaining and adorable during the ride, being completely fearless and pressing her nose and hands up against the glass, looking out over the amusement park, pointing out things she saw, and generally providing commentary, like "shoes!" and "water!"  and declaring she wanted to go "swimming" or "fishing" as well as, when the ride was over, "one more time!" and "hai yao!"

She also enjoyed her strawberries while suspended above the Hong Kong skyline - what a good life!

Lola is not scared of heights, at all!
In between rides we went to the carousel, but as you can see Lola wanted only to go back to the gondola, which she alternatively called an elevator and a car - not a bad description, and strangely accurate, if you think about it.
