We spent the mornings running around, exploring the many layers of the boat, and marveling at the wide open expanse of sky and water.
Lola and I had the chance to play at bumper cars also! Seems like this boat has everything. We got the only pink car, score!
We also did family bingo, though with moderate success as the kids liked pushing and pulling the tabs more than anything else.On a whim I decided to try rock climbing! In fairness I had done this once before, in Arizona at a climbing gym with my sister. But that was a loooong time ago.
Lola and Michael were very proud, and get highest marks for being an enthusiastic and great cheering squad.
It was such a rush and I'm thrilled I tried it. I struggled to come down though because I couldn't mentally get into the concept of trusting the rope and leaning back and dropping down!
Then there was a cake cutting ceremony! Super random, but we were there for it. Along with 453 people.
That evening we went to a live show about the Silk Road, with singing, dancing, violin, acrobatics and trampoline gymnasts, then enjoyed a slightly later dinner. And then, all too soon, it was time to pack up our bags!
Here is a sweet picture of the boys sleeping - how touching is it that in slumber their limbs seek each other in implicit recognition. Seeing them like this makes me wonder what they looked like in the womb. I know in all the scans it was just a jumble of confusing limbs and disparate pieces that didn’t seem possible to make into two wholes. The next morning, we had special privileges to stay on the ship and depart later, so we managed to enjoy one last breakfast.
A few more games of hide and seek, and then it was last call to get off the boat unless we wanted to head to Thailand!Once in port we managed to get through immigration pretty quickly, and then we were in a Grab car, on our way across town to Shangri La Orange Grove!!
Our experience at the Shangri La city location was nothing short of amazing. Perhaps this was our best hotel stay yet; I would say of all the recent hotel stays, this is on par with the Four Seasons Macau and these two are probably my favorites in the region.
