This post is a bit delayed, because we had Lola's grandparents (Michael's parents) here visiting over Easter, and we went to Vietnam for a few days. Hope everyone had a happy Easter, or at least a nice Easter break!
During this time, Lola turned four months!
Lola is very curious about the world around her. She will stay up as long as possible, even if she is exhausted, if there is any activity around her. Her curiosity serves her well in the new situations that she finds herself in when we travel. Rather than crying or being afraid, she opens her eyes wider and swivels her head seeks to absorb all the details of her new situation - whether it's an airport, a market, an airplane, or a new apartment or house. She is such a trooper when we're on the road. Even when she is exhausted, she will try to stay up, soaking in new experiences. Even when she is hungry, she will hang in there, waiting for a diaper change and warm milk. What a little champ!
Lola has a mischievous and happy smile, particularly when she wakes up in the mornings, when she is in her best mood after a long sleep. She is now sleeping almost entirely through the night, usually getting a last feed in between the hours of 7 and 9 pm and then waking up once around 4 or 5 am. When she wakes up, she can usually play by herself for a while, contentedly sucking her hands through her swaddle, before calling out for attention.
Lately, everything that she comes into contact with is brought immediately to her mouth - with tragic consequences. She gets so frustrated and so angry that the toys/objects/fingers/hands that she grabs onto cannot immediately fit entirely into her mouth. I would say, on average, it seems her toys bring her much more aggravation than happiness! Essentially, only three things make her cry: (1) her toys, (2) when she is really, really tired and (3) when she is really, really hungry.
We're not yet certain if she is starting to teethe, but she really likes rubbing her gums on the plastic rings of her various toys, and especially on the ears of her stuffed animals.
Here we are in front of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on Caine Road on Easter Sunday. Lola was pretty patient during the mass until the very end, when she started fussing and needed a break!
Here is Lola, decked out before church.
After mass, we headed to Blue Butcher for a nice brunch. There, Lola refused to sleep even though she was clearly tired - too many lights, sounds, and activity!
Nona got to hold Lola and feed her - both were happy!
The brunch spread was very pretty. We chose it for the convenience and the airy space (rather than wrangling a stroller and all the adults around one of the more typical tiny tables of Hong Kong restaurants) but I usually don't like this kind of brunch spread because I don't think the food is as fresh.
There were oysters and champagne, though we opted to skip the free flow!
There was a huge crepe bar and dessert stand, as well as baskets of chocolate Easter eggs.
Lola managed to pick up an egg on one of her cruises around the restaurant with her dad (gee, I wonder how that happened) and spent a good portion of her time fondling her pink Easter egg instead of napping.

Outtake: peeling the sticker off.
