We went to get beef noodles while waiting for our hotel room to be ready, then ran around the hotel, enjoyed the playroom, and ate a late dinner while watching the fireworks over the city.
The next day was probably our favorite part of the trip (at least mine). We went to Sun Moon Lake and enjoyed the beautiful views and great weather. We rode the cable cars, and hopscotched across the lake in various boats.
After a much anticipated but not needed ice cream break, which was very warmly received by all, we then headed to... the amusement park!
It was the most beautiful amusement park we had ever seen. Heavily wooded, with mature evergreens, spindly pines, scrubby bushes, flowering cherry trees, draped in fairy lights and backstopped by a mountain range and bright blue skies, it was enchanting.
Lola after much wavering and indecision opted to go on the monster water slide. We were frankly very surprised she decided to do it! I'm sure she immensely regretted her decision when she was buckled in to the seat, but at that point it was the point of no return. I clutched her head the whole way, while she kept her hand down and refused to look at anything around her. When we got to the bottom, every one cheered for her and told her how proud we were of her. What an accomplishment! She said she will not do that ride again, but we comforted her with the thought that she was brave and tried to do something despite being terrified! We finished the night with a delicious dinner on our way back to the hotel.
Then it was time for a bittersweet farewell, as we were headed to Taipei the next day. In the next morning, Lola squeezed in a swim, and the boys played in the playroom and sunned themselves by the pool one last time. We enjoyed a last lunch in Taichung with the cousins, then road tripped to Taipei!
