Backtracking to the beginning, we had our first flight for the boys, and the first one for Lola that she really remembers. I was way too busy to be sentimental on the plane. But I have to admit these kids have it good - first flight ever and we were fast tracked through everything and they got VIP access (!) to the first class Cathay flagship lounge, The Wing. It only took their parents 25 or so more years...
We joke (but no, not a joke, we seriously mean) that after this trip we need 2 weeks of digital and dessert detox.
Lola got some incredible shots with my phone out the window, including a vivid sunset:
We booked a suite and connecting room so had three rooms to run around amongst ourselves. It meant we could never find the right keys to the rooms but also that we had ample space. Here a pack n play is pictured but in the end we didn’t really use them as the hotel beds were big and way more comfortable. Lola loved her Murphy bed in the living room of the suite.
Al checking out our bed on the master. I think he concluded that he likes the density and springiness, tested diligently through repeated jumping:
Lola and Teo maxing and relaxing in the other room. I love how comfortable Teo looks here. Kid really knows how to enjoy:
On this trip I was again reminded of how lovely the grounds are, and how much natural beauty Cebu is blessed with. While the resort is a bit outdated, and the typhoon last year really damaged their house reef, the Shangri la has planned this resort very well, and the convenience of having pools and gardens and the beach right next to each other is unparalleled. Those blues!
We enjoyed the immense pools and adventure zone, which Lola wasted no time getting after. It took the boys a couple of more days, but once Michael got there we were able to coax Al and Teo down the green slide (and then the red slide) to great success.
Lola also did the big blue slide, which was perfect because it landed into a pool that was only 3 feet deep. Eventually we even managed to get Al on the blue slide, much to our delight! He was so cute giggling infectiously all the way down.
There was a baby soft play area, as well as a large adventure zone with big slides, ropes, and a really scary blue slide which was a vertical drop that required a helmet.
