Good God, I first prepared this draft and title 5 days after Mother's Day but it's all so outdated now that I am just going to go back and recap as much as I can. I have so much to say and update and post but no time!
The boys just turned 17 months! I can't believe it. We were at dinner last weekend and I told someone they were 18 months already. Whoops. Poor Al and Teo, with Lola I meticulously wrote detailed updates every month about her milestones and with them I barely have time to sleep or eat much less record things, and unfortunately a month gets lost here or there.
Between trying to squeeze time in in the early hours of the morning when the boys wake up but Lola hasn't yet (between the hours of 5:45 am and 6:30, really), eating breakfast with the kids before sending Lola off to school (she leaves at 8:15 am) and sending off the boys (they either go in the car with her to take her to school or else they go on a little walk, but either way they return by 9am), and then cramming an entire work day in the office before I rush home to eat dinner with everyone, usually at 7 and have TV or play time afterward, before I put Lola to bed (the boys go to sleep by 7:30, Lola by 8), and getting right back to work after Lola is usually finally in bed at 8:30 (she doesn't often stay put), I am preeeeetty exhausted. The last two weeks in May have been particularly brutal with my not going to bed until truly, very, late.
But first, I had an amazing Mother's Day celebration. It was so wonderful and Michael really did a great job preparing everything. The day before, I had an extremely decadent massage at the Four Seasons and a chilled glass of champagne. And then Michael, Lola and I had an amazing buffet lunch at the top of the Ritz (lunch on the 118th floor) on the day!! The highest bar in the world (according to their sign) and the most sweeping and gorgeous views in, I would dare say, the entire world! Lola apparently went to school the next day and told her teachers all about it. My only regret is that with the four person restrictions per table we couldn't bring Al and Teo. But hopefully next year we will be able to celebrate together as a family.
Lola refused to look at the camera for this picture. Typical!
Just a typical day, chilling on a windowsill overlooking the whole city!! We had a blast.
Lola wanted to stay and sleep there...the sign says "The Highest Bar in the World, 490 meters above sea level". Pretty cool. The weather could not have cooperated more. It was the clearest and most beautiful view I've had from the top.
I managed to get pictures with Al and Teo that night, but sadly could not convince the whole family (namely, one little lady) to join in on pictures. These boys are the best and I love them both so. I can't wait to be able to go out together as a whole big crew!
Probably the sweetest thing out of the whole weekend was the artwork that Michael helped the kids make for me - a tree with all of their palm prints! Lola's is purple, Al's is orange, and Teo's is green. It pairs perfectly with the red flowers that Michael had helped Lola make for me for a previous Mother's Day. I'm planning to frame them all together for my office. Sometimes I cannot believe that I am a mom, much less a mom to three kids (how did that happen?!) but I could not be more blessed and I am so truly, deeply grateful.
