Eating Up A Storm In Taiwan!

I am in Taiwan, visiting my mom and my relatives, for the Chinese New Year.  It has pretty much been a relentless non stop affair of eating, eating, drinking tea, eating, drinking tea, watching TV, and eating.

We went to Taichung for two days - this was our dinner on New Year's Eve.

Shrimp boiled three ways (in garlic, sesame oil, and with black pepper)

This is a soup called "Buddha jumps the wall" (佛跳墙), so called because it is so tasty that even a Buddha, who is supposed to be indifferent to material goods and worldly tastes, would jump over a wall to drink this soup.
More shrimp.  These were huge tiger prawns cooked on a sizzling hot plate.
This was an amazing, huge king crab with scary prickly legs.
 Sashimi platter.
Cherry smoked duck with pickled cabbage and buttered sesame buns.
Sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves.

Chinese kaoliangjiu, or 高粱酒, a clear premium liquor that is 56 proof.  Wowza!
My mom and I outside of the restaurant after our epic meal.
