The park is about a 40 minute drive (without traffic) from our house. There is a maze, sloping hills with grass, and an extensive network of bridges and platforms to view birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and the mangroves and the wetlands with its teeming fish, tadpoles, crabs, and butterflies and dragonflies.
We did the maze and walked up the hill first.
Then we went to the main entrance, where the lobby contains many beautifully designed legos depicting the park and, incredibly, one of a bird. The kids loved this.
Once outside, on the way to the paths, we walked by the tank with Pui Pui, a female crocodile. She was out napping while soaking up the rays. You can see part of her body here. Then we were finally walking the really beautiful platforms, pausing at the viewing station, popping into a bird shelter from time to time, and really just marveling at the fantastic diversity of the Hong Kong ecosystem. It was not particularly crowded out on the walkways.
We ate lunch at the cafe and then had a final look around. They had an indoor playroom called the "Swamp Grounds" that looked pretty sweet, but the boys were not quite tall enough yet and we ran out of time. We ended up at the upstairs level at the visitor center and explored quickly before heading home.
