On Saturday morning we headed to the GTA for a morning of fun with our friends, in the playroom and on the outdoor playground, ending with a nice lunch where every kid got milky soft serve ice cream. At one point I was sitting at the lunch table with 5 kids all aged 5 and under and I noticed a mom at another table staring - it probably looked like they were all my children, ohhh my goodness haha!
In the afternoon we took the bikes and scooters and did the path from Deepwater to Repulse Bay. We enjoyed the most beautiful, glorious sunshine-filled day. It was hard to believe it was January. We got so lucky with our scooter and bike adventures!
We then played together and had dinner on the roof, overlooking the sun set on Repulse Bay. The weather was so unusual that day. Mists shrouded the water and swirled around the mountains, making the whole scene almost unbearably mysterious and romantic.
Sunday morning started cold and rainy so it was good that we headed to the newly revamped Children's Discovery Museum in North Point. I loved watching the kids exploring - they exhibited such untamped curiosity and joy that it was contagious.
We recently got a membership to the Aberdeen Boat Club and so spent Sunday afternoon checking it out. In retrospect, I wish we had done it on Saturday - the weather turned dramatically and it was actually really cold on Sunday!
We took a little sampan from the Victoria Recreation Club, and then alighted on Middle Island, a rather large and largely uninhabited island nestled right across from Deepwater Bay and easily accessed from Aberdeen and Repulse Bay.
I was too busy making sure no one fell into the water, so no pictures were taken. But my heart sang as the little boat cut across the open water.
Middle Island is shared by the ABC and the Royal Yacht Club and there is a small private stretch of beach. The kids enjoyed exploring it, bouncing on the trampoline there, and walking out onto the dock.
Then we alighted on the ferry that took us to the Main Club in Aberdeen where we did a little more exploring, the kids played in the outdoor playground, and then we headed home. Now Teo keeps asking me when we can go back to Middle Island!
