Last weekend, Michael and I decided to take our little Lola darling on an adventure, somewhere new, exciting, somewhere she had never been before...
and that is when we realized, she had never been to Kowloon (or the New Territories, come to think of it)!
This is a bit shocking given how little distance separates us - just the ever-shrinking harbor, which gets smaller and smaller and choppier and choppier as they continue to build out on both shorelines.
So Lola got to take her first boat ride on the Star Ferry, an iconic white and green ferry that crosses the harbor carrying thousands of visitors and residents for just over US$0.35 multiple times daily.
I have to say, she was completely unimpressed.
One of the world's most beautiful skylines behind us, and all she wanted were her crackers.
She perked up noticeably when we got off the boat and entered the Harbour City mall at Tsim Sha Tsui though - the mall was mobbed (absolutely mobbed, I tell you!) with people given it was a weekend, and Lola fell into her usual observer mode. She got very still and very quiet and very alert, sat up in her carrier, and looked around non-stop. Overall, we're glad we finally got around to taking her on her first adventure to the dark side!
