Michael and I went to eat at La Vache! last night. We had heard good things from practically everyone and had been meaning to go for a long time, but were thwarted each time in the past because we never put our names down early enough and the wait was just too long. We have found that it is pretty consistently an hour to an hour and a half wait for two people. They do not take reservations for any parties less than five.
This requires some strategy. Thankfully we do live one street away from La Vache and, if we close our minds to creepy crawlies and large puddles and mysterious drops on our heads, we can bypass the two minute walk up to Staunton and down Peel and instead cut directly through a dark alleyway to La Vache.
I went in with high expectations and, it is rare to say but I am so happy to say, we were very satisfied with our meals and left very happy.
They provide everyone with bread and butter, a salad, and steak and unlimited fries.
The meat was perfectly cooked, a little more rare than medium rare, and oh so tender.
The steak was juicy and flavorful and the skinny fries, though salty, were incredibly addictive. La Vache is very generous with the portion size of their fries!
They have a large dessert cart, which looked like it contained lemon cake, flan, bread pudding…amongst other sweets. However, we were stuffed so full that we passed.
Even their takeaway bags are adorable.
La Vache - we will be back!
