Guyi Hunan Restaurant (古意湘味浓)

For our first night in Shanghai, we went out to dinner with a colleague of mine at Guyi Hunan Restaurant, in the IFC mall.  Hunan cuisine is even spicier than Sichuan, so beware!

The standout piece of the night was a large fish head, the flesh so tender it nearly flaked off the bone, cooked two different ways: red chili pepper and green pickled peppers.  One side looks deceivingly less spicy than the other, but as I choked a few times on it and can attest, it was just as spicy!
