Wedding at the Four Seasons

On Saturday night, we attended the wedding reception / wedding banquet of a co-worker of mine at the Four Seasons hotel in Hong Kong.  It was held in their Harbourview Room.  I had been looking forward to this for some time.  Those of you know me know how much I love weddings!  This was the first wedding that we've attended in Hong Kong.

There was no dancing (sad).  Quite a few things happened during this wedding that probably wouldn't have happened at a western wedding - among them, professional MCs that spoke in three languages, a video from that morning, a lot of speeches in three languages (by the bride, groom, father of the bride, father of the groom, the groom again, the bride again, the groom again, and friends of the bride) and not one but TWO singing performances by the groom!  It was pretty interesting.

The food was really well done, and the wine was delicious.  It was a ten course meal, which began with roast suckling pig, followed by a perfectly deep-fried crab claw, then fresh shrimp with peas and lotus leaves, then bird's nest and seafood soup, then whole abalone with bok choy, then crispy baked chicken, then steamed grouper fish, then fried rice, and then peanut soup and sesame dumplings.  There was also some free petit fours.  The portions were not large, but with so many servings we were stuffed by the fifth or sixth course.  They served hot tea between the chicken and the fish so people can expand their stomachs, re-awaken their appetite, and continue eating!
